Incontinence

What Does 'Incontinence' Mean?

This is the inability for a person to maintain control of their bowel or bladder. This could be from a partial loss of control to complete loss control.

More Information

Incontinence is the inability to maintain control of bowel or bladder function. This ranges from a partial loss to a complete loss of control.

In a Long-Term Care Insurance policy, incontinence would also include the inability to keep up with personal hygiene, like caring for a catheter or colostomy bag.

Incontinence (or continence) is one of the six activities of daily living. Needing help with two or more activities triggers Long-Term Care Insurance benefits.
