Many long-term care facilities have been on lockdown during the virus crisis. With the impact of COVID-19 there will be many changes in the ability of family members and how they can visit their loved ones. A San Francisco company has teamed up with Zoon to provide technology for family members to stay in touch with their loved ones.
Cubigo – a digital platform for senior living communities – says their integration with Zoom will keep families connected and residents engaged while keeping both resident and family safe from infection.
The company says this is the first platform to integrate Zoom, which is available to Cubigo's more than 35,000 global users. It provides video conferencing between residents and their families outside the long-term care community. It also offers the ability for facility programming directors to host virtual activities to fight loneliness, which has become a significant concern for those who live in extended-care facilities.
"We are hearing first-hand the current challenges in senior living communities, so we have strategically created a seamless experience that allows residents to go from social connectivity to family visits to more healthcare-oriented conversations with caregivers. For the staff, Cubigo is a much-needed one-stop-shop in their hectic, stressful workdays," said Geert Houben, Cubigo's Chief Executive Officer.
Loneliness is a major concern for all seniors, but those in long-term care facilities now have limited opportunities to interact with others. Facilities are taking action to combat this issue while maintaining health and safety for residents, staff, and visitors.
Most experts say social relations add to the quality of life. Facilities over the years have made significant advances in providing social activities that encourage relationships. However, family members are always the primary relationships that need to be maintained.
American families have seen the impact aging and long-term health care can have on both family and finances. The quality of care is of significant concern and can vary substantially depending on how the care is being funded.
Affordable Long-Term Care Insurance offers guaranteed tax-free benefits giving the policyholder access to their choice of quality care, including care at home. The benefits allow family members the time to be family instead of providing care for their loved ones.
To obtain coverage, you must health qualify. Generally, your health is better when you are younger. Experts suggest planning in your 40s or 50s when your health is not only better, but premiums are very affordable.
