What Does 'Transferring' Mean?
One of the Activities of Daily Living used to trigger benefits in a Long-Term Care policy. Transferring is the activity of getting into and out of bed or a chair or wheelchair. (See also Activities of Daily Living.)

Transferring involves moving from a standing, sitting, or lying position. This could include getting into and out of bed, chair, or wheelchair.
Transferring is one of the six triggers to access Long-Term Care Insurance benefits. Individuals must require help with at least two of the activities of daily living to trigger LTC Insurance benefits.
