Sandwich Generation

What Does 'Sandwich Generation' Mean?

The sandwich generation describes individuals who care for their elderly parents while trying to raise their own children. These individuals often find themselves sandwiched between caring for two generations.

More Information

"Sandwich generation" is a term coined to describe a generation of people caring for their elderly parents while simultaneously trying to start and raise a family of their own.

Often, these individuals find themselves worn thin trying to balance their children's and parents' needs. They may be coping with physical, emotional, and financial exhaustion simultaneously.

To add to the stress, these individuals have to find time for work and maintain their personal relationships outside of their caregiving responsibilities.
