What causes peripheral neuropathy?
Answer:
Diabetes is the most common cause of peripheral neuropathy in the United States, but it is far from the only one. Neuropathy can also be associated with aging, kidney disease, autoimmune disorders, vitamin deficiencies, certain medications, chemotherapy, infections and chronic alcohol use. Physical trauma from a crash, fall or workplace accident can also damage or compress peripheral nerves.
