Does Long-Term Care Insurance cover mental health conditions?
Answer:
Mental health conditions by themselves generally do not trigger Qualified Long-Term Care Insurance benefits. Most policies pay benefits when the insured requires substantial assistance with at least two of the six activities of daily living or requires substantial supervision because of severe cognitive impairment. Once benefit eligibility is met, many policies can help pay for covered care provided at home, in assisted living, memory care, or in a nursing home, regardless of the medical condition that created the need for care.
