Can autoimmune or inflammatory diseases increase the need for long-term care?
Answer:
A diagnosis by itself does not mean someone will need long-term care. However, severe or poorly controlled conditions can cause joint damage, vision problems, organ damage or other functional limitations. Those complications may eventually make everyday activities such as dressing, bathing, walking or transferring more difficult and increase the need for assistance.
