Detailed Answer

Bathing is an individual's ability to wash themselves effectively, either in a shower or tub. It is one of the six activities of daily living.

Typically, bathing is the first activity of daily living an individual would need assistance with. Help with bathing can involve either hands-on or standby assistance.

When an individual needs help with bathing, it counts as one of the six triggers to access Long-Term Care Insurance benefits. Individuals must need help with at least two of the activities of daily living to trigger LTC Insurance benefits.
